Despite the Obama mythology, these new photos show that the young Obama was dating a white girl named Megan Hughes and hanging out with other white people including his basketball teammate Greg Orme and fellow student Kellie Allman.
It was Kelli Allman (née Mc Cormack) who provided these new photos to Time. One of the most puzzling things to me about contemporary politics is the way so many people seem to think that Barack Obama is a black man.
It was "the deepest romantic relationship of his young life," Maraniss writes. Obama described Cook in his memoir "Dreams of My Father" without using her name, recounting her as "a woman in New York that I loved... She had dark hair, and specks of green in her eyes.
In journal entries that Maraniss excerpts, Cook mused over Mr. "Barack--still intrigues me, but so much going on beneath the surface, out of reach. Her voice sounded like a wind chime." The president later acknowledged that while Cook was his New York girlfriend, his description of her was a "compression" of former girlfriends. Obama made his way to Chicago after taking interest in Harold Washington's mayoral campaign there. Obama's current campaign adviser David Axelrod worked for Washington's re-election campaign in 1987.
Despite some digs at Barack’s ego and allusions to a past proclivity for dating white women exclusively, Tanne’s years of research presented hims with a largely flattering, admirable portrait of these now iconic figures. Okay, that’s already racist because Trump did it, but let’s also pretend that Fox News called his dating of black women part of his “dark side.” Yup, that’s super-racist.
Now let’s suppose a conservative filmmaker made a movie about this and criticized Trump for dating black women.
As one of the folks who got to know him while he was at Occidental College, I can report that I thought of Obama as an average white guy in terms of his IQ and his cultural inheritance.
This, of course, should not be so surprising since Obama was raised by his white mother and his white grandparents nearly his entire life.
The young Obama that I knew was mainly interested in hanging out with white guys and white girls (like me and my radical girlfriend) or with his radical Muslim friends.
I interacted with young Obama on various occasions between 1980-1981 and I can report that I never saw him hanging out with black students. Obama, of course, has done a lot of work to create a politically and socially advantageous black image for himself.
*gasp* This review is so long and boring, maybe as bad as the movie itself, and it’s hard to stay awake reading the whole thing.
For those with the stamina, somewhere near the end of this sickening love letter to Barry and Mooch you get treated to this piece of information about the film’s writer-director Richard Tanne: The film is not a revealing exposé or a glimpse into the president’s dark side. First, that a major network considers Barack Obama dating white women to be part of his dark side and second, that the filmmaker used the movie to give the president shit for dating white women. To find out, let’s put it to the test: Let’s say Donald Trump used to date black women.
I say if you are going to make something up, throw in some car chases and explosions, maybe some zombies too.
